Universidad Empresarial (UNEM) is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian educational institution of higher learning which does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, race, religion, national origin, creed, disability, marital status, gender or sexual orientation. UNEM began its operation in 1992 as the International Post-Graduate School in affiliation with the University of San Jose. In 1997 the International Post-Graduate School began operation as an independent institution and became Universidad Empresarial.

Government Approval

Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica received approval of its charter from the Consejo Nacional de Enseñanza Superior Universitaria Privada (CONESUP) of the Costa Rican Ministry of Education, during Session number 336-97 which met on 5 November 1997.

UNEM is listed with the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) International Association of Universities' World List of Universities and International Handbook of Universities and other international directories.

The Fundacion Empresarial de Costa Rica was founded in 1995.

Felipe Fernandez Prieto

I grew up in a family where education was just a dream, especially furthering my education to obtain a University degree. I never believed I would end up where am I today. English was a problem for me because I was taught in my home language at school and I felt demoralized because this would be a barrier for good communication. I didn't have a place to stay during my first semester so I had to travel every day from Puriscal and had to stand in a bus which was always full. When I got to University, I would be tired already.

‘Terrible twos’ not inevitable: with engaged parenting, happy babies can become happy toddlers.

Parents should not feel pressured to make their young children undertake structured learning or achieve specific tasks, particularly during lockdown. A new study of children under the age of two has found that parents who take a more flexible approach to their child’s learning can - for children who were easy babies - minimise behavioural problems during toddlerhood.
